Our Mission

Our Mission

Our Mission

At Assemblies of God Sierra Leone, our mission is to spread love and kindness through religious teachings. We believe that everyone deserves to feel the love of God and our goal is to make that possible for as many people as we can.

Our History

Our Mission

Our Mission

The Assembly of God in Koindu, Sierra Leone, began in 1952 through Liberian brothers linked to the Swedish Free Pentecostal Mission. They aimed to spread Christianity in the challenging environments of the Kissy chiefdoms, facing opposition from idol worshipers. Early believers, often uneducated, were vital in establishing the faith despite significant persecution, with missionaries like the Apostle and Rev. Moses Fayiah leading efforts.

After the Liberian war intensified in 1988, local believers like Fayia Robbo emerged as leaders, nurturing faith by reading the Bible. Missionaries from Liberia, including Pastor Sahr Mayah, aimed to support the church, eventually connecting with Rev. Heimenger, who encouraged the local community.

The first graduation for church leaders occurred in the 1970s, marking the community's growth. Despite ongoing persecution, believers gathered regularly for worship and baptism. By the 1970s, new congregations were established, contributing to the Assembly of God's significant expansion, bolstered by local business owners coming to faith through Rev. Fayiah's ministry. This history showcases the resilience and dedication of the Assembly of God community in spreading Christianity in the region.
